Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out
Back in the late ‘90s & early 2000s when CDs still ruled and £50 Man was the life blood of chains of independent record shops like FOPP, there was a burgeoning scene of small indie publishers and labels buying up the rights to reissue old classics. Often purchasing the rights to alt-takes or radio edits rather than the more famous “original” masters, they flooded the market with cheap compilations of dubious quality.
This collection from Castle Communications stands out as a rare example of both high quality masters and exceptional curation. Recreated here as a celebration of that time, as well as of one of the finest compilations of ‘60s Psych Rock cuts, ‘Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out’ matches the track listing of those original disks. Turn shuffle off to get that authentic CD experience.
